Save Time with Quick Parts and a BONUS Tip

Today's Topic: Create a "Quick Part" in Outlook with text you frequently include in emails. 

Who?  People who write email (so, pretty much everyone). 

Why? Many people realize that they frequently have to write the same string of text over and over in emails they write. For instance, how many times have you typed something like this, "If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call me--after 3:30 p.m.is probably best"? You can turn any string of text like this into a Quick Part and never have to type it again.

Who? The 90% of people who don't know how to quickly find a word, name, or phrase on a webpage. 

Why? Scanning a webpage for a particular word, name, or phrase can be frustrating. Become part of the 10% who use Ctrl+F to fend off this frustration.

Open Word Documents in Normal View from Email and SharePoint


Today's Topic: Open Word Documents in Normal View from Email and SharePoint

Who? All staff who are irritated by the way Word documents from email and SharePoint are opening in "reading view."

Why? When we upgraded to Office 2013, this was the default setting in Word. Once you change that setting, Word documents will open in "print layout" which is what most of us refer to as "normal."

Open Multiple Tabs Automatically in Internet Explorer

Today’s Topic: Make Internet Explorer work for you by automatically opening up the websites you frequently visit.

Who? Every user who has as set of websites (like Google or Skyward) they’d like to have at their fingertips all the time.

Why? Some people navigate to the same set of sites several times a day and each time they do, they start fresh, requiring several clicks and/or typing. By presetting your tabs, all you have to do is open IE and all your sites will be there.
